Sew along!-Vintage button dress-Šujam kopā!

Who wants a cool summer dress? Who would like to join me for a sew along project ?
That’s my idea of this week: to make a summer dress with you (if you want it) – this dress was described recently in this article. In my Burdastyle page I called it a Vintage button dress.

Kura no jums grib foršu vasaras kleitiņu? Kas labprāt pievienotos man, lai tādu sev uzšūtu?
Tāda ir mana šīs nedēļas ideja: kopā ar jums (ja vēlaties) uzšūt vasaras kleitiņu, ko nesen aprakstīju šajā rakstā. Burdastyle lapā es to nosaucu par Vintage button dress – Antīkās podziņas kleita.

I think that this summer dress can be made step by step by anyone who wants it. Pattern is a very simple and sewing technique is not difficult. Together we can do that:)! The pattern design of the dress we will make together, and we will sew it together as well.
You will need:
- pattern paper – I use the basic design of brown paper, because it has vertical lines, which can be used to navigate easily and to draw an exact straight line vertically (graph paper also is well suited). In order to cut the fabric according to the pattern I use a transparent paper, where I transfer the shape of basic pattern. Basicpattern you can use for other sewing projects, thus I would not recommend to cut it. I bought a paper in the “Baltijas papīrs” shop, which is located on the Kr Barona and Stabu street corner.

Domāju, ka soli pa solim pie savas vasaras kleitiņas varēs tikt katra, kas to vēlēsies. Piegrieztne ir ļoti vienkārša, šūšanas tehnika nav sarežģīta. Kopā mēs to varam paveikt:)! Kleitas piegrieztni konstruēsim kopā, un šūsim to kopā.

- A lightweight fabric such as satin, satin cotton or lightweight cotton;
- One button which you see as most appropriate, with a diameter of 1 cm – 2 cm (I recommend a button on the leg);
- Thread with appropriate color;
- Rubber, approximately 0.5 -1 cm wide, buying it as much as your waist girth.

- Viegls audums, piemēram, satīns, atlass, satīna kokvilna vai viegla kokvilna;
- Viena podziņa, kas jums liekas vispiemērotākā, diametrā no 1 cm – 2 cm (iesaku podziņu uz kājiņas);
- Piemērotas krāsas diegs;

This time I chose to buy a light “Abakhan fabrics” satin cotton in black with dark blue leaf pattern, and the black, antique buttons seen already in previous posts (I have several in stock).
The work will be described as follows:
1st day (15.06.11.): Drawing of the basicpattern and transferring to the pattern paper, cutting.
2nd day (18.06.11.): Cutting of the fabric by the pattern (one front part of the dress, 3 backside parts). Making of a slanted tape ribbon thread from the same cloth.
3rd day (21.06.11.) Sewing the dress with a sewing machine. Edge treatment with the slanted tape thread and making of a loop for button. Treatmenr of the lower edge of the dress. Sewing the button.
4th day: Photosession (22.06.11.- and longer) :) !!! I would be grateful if each of us will report and to show off your results. Everyone would be interested. Perhaps somebody would add some personal knack in the dress pattern and will share it. For this I set up a www.flickr.com group under the name “Vintage button dress”. Anyone who wants to join to it and to add own photos, please write to me: iveta@ambermarks.com (a discrete way to find out your e-mail addresses). This is something new for me, hope this kind of communication will be a success:)!
And here’s the button that you can use to insert link:

Šoreiz es izvēlējos Abakhan fabrics pirktu vieglu satīna kokvilnu – melnu ar tumši zilu lapu rakstu, un jau redzēto melno, antīko podziņu (man tādas krājumā ir vairākas).
Kā darbi tiks aprakstīti turpmāk:
1. diena (15.06.11.): Pamatpiegrieztnes uzzīmēšana un pārzīmēšana un piegrieztnes papīra, izgriešana.
2. diena (18.06.11.): Auduma piegriešana pēc piegrieztnēm (viena kleitas priekšpuses detaļa, 3 mugurpuses detaļas). Slīpā diega lentas izgatavošana no tā paša auduma.

I hope this week will give you the opportunity to join the Dress sewing project also after the working hours, if these are spent out of the house.
To be continued on Wednesday when we start the first work plan.
Have a nice week!

Ceru, ka šī nedēļa dos jums iespēju pievienoties kleitiņas šūšanas projektam arī pēc darba dienas, ja tā paiet ārpus mājas.
Turpinājums sekos trešdien, kad sāksim pirmo darba plānu.
Jauku jums šo nedēļu!

    Hi Iveta! This dress is just darling! I would love to join you, unfortunately, the deadline for my diploma thesis is next week’s tuesday, so I won’t be able to sew anything this week. So sad. Maybe I can follow your instructions afterwards. Thanks so much for the invitation! And have fun with your wonderful sew along! :)

    Lieliska ideja.
